Welcome to the fourth instalment of my Edinburgh Fringe Previews.
This time we'll pay a visit to The Grand Old Opera House Hotel.
Once a magnificent Opera House it now stand as a shadow of its former glory as a shabby Hotel.
The bedrooms and hallways once heard the sounds of the finest sopranos and tenors.
Now they ring with the arguing voices of terrible managers and incompetent staff.
The stage has a neon framed window into the rooms which gives the audience a voyeuristic view. On either side there are hallways with doors where some of the action will take place.
It is very stylistic in costume and set. It is a sea of beige and for some reason all the staff have the wrong name badges.
Are the strange occurrences in the Hotel just the result of disgruntled and disenfranchised staff or is there something else going on?
The Grand Old Opera House Hotel is written by Isobel McArthur and directed by Gareth Nicholls.
With music by Michael John McCarthy.
It stars Ali Watt, Karen Fishwick, Laura Lovemore, Betty Valencia, Barrie Hunter, Ann Louise Ross and Christina Modestou.
The Grand Old Opera House Hotel is at the Traverse Theatre from the 27th of July until the 27th of August.
